Thank you to our FAD supporters

Thank you to the Sponsors, Program Partners, Volunteers and supporters who helped us put together the Festival of Architecture and Design (FAD) 2017 http://fad.org.au/

and make it such a success in celebrating and promoting the role of South Australian architects and designers.

A big thanks to our creative direction team Tremma who devised the glorious Analogue Missions installation (picture left) in Victoria Square.

Architecture on Show is a series of focused events and discussions presented by members of the Australian Institute of Architects in partnership with local councils. The Institute aims to foster a productive relationship with communities by inviting local councils to join a national talk series.

Participating councils will host a series of Architecture on Show talks that provide a platform for leading South Australian architects, planners and academics to present their work to the public, and offers the opportunity for the sharing of ideas and informed discussion on particular issues facing the Council – from housing through to public spaces.

South Australian Architecture Awards

Our State Awards are part of an integrated, hierarchical National Architecture Awards Program and provide public and peer recognition of South Australian architectural work, as well as providing a valuable mechanism to showcase local architects and architecture across Australia and abroad.

The Presentation Dinner is our annual celebration of architecture, to share in the achievements of our members’ work and showcase the unique qualities that underpin the South Australian architecture profession. Other public events held in the lead up to the night include the Jury Presentation Day, talks and exhibitions.

Festival of Architecture and Design (FAD)

FAD creates the opportunity for architects and designers to engage with each other and the community, to promote and celebrate the contribution of design to our quality of life.

The Australian Institute of Architects has been invited to curate the FUTURE CITIES theme this year so we are moving FAD into a new home as part of OPEN STATE, all led by our intrepid TREMMA creative team.

A city’s character can be seen through the way it fosters social exchange. This exchange may occur between inhabitants, in face-to-face interactions, or between people and the city itself. Predominantly this occurs in public and semi-public spaces.

How will Adelaide progress in line with technological advances, whilst retaining and reinforcing the interactions between the people who inhabit it? Future Cities asks how will we get there, what will it look like when we do and how is this transition shaped by the interaction of people, design and technology.
